Innovate UK has invested over £34 million to drive business growth and ensure the long-term resilience of UK food production. Their funded projects span a wide range of categories, including Alternative Proteins, Biofortified & Fortified Foods, Cultivated Meat, New/Novel Systems and Plant-Based Foods. Innovate UK has also recently announced a £15m investment alongside BBSRC, into the National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC). The centre will drive innovations across the entire alternative proteins supply chain and address a range of research and innovation challenges
